India to host 2016 T20 World Cup

It was exciting news for the board of control for control in India (BCCI) and for the cricket lovers of India as for the first time India is going to host the T20 world cup in 2016.

t20-worldcup-2016-300x220BCCI was given the chance to host the event during the international cricket council (ICC) annual conference. Jagmohan Dalmiya, former ICC president represented India in the event.

During the meeting the ICC decided its total events from 2015 to 2023. The ICC also announced that all the full members in the four years must have to play a minimum of 16 tests to retain in the test cricket.

For the first time India is going to host the T20 world cup. Cricket fans of India are excited and thrilled with the news. India won the first ever T20 world cup hosted by South Africa from 11-24 September 2007. India, who became the first T20 champions after defeating Pakistan by 5 runs in the final at Johannesburg. The second event, the 2009 ICC world twenty20 took place in England from 5-21 June 2009. This tournament was won by the previous runners-up Pakistan who defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the final at lord’s London. The third tournament, the 2010 ICC world twenty 20 was held from 30 April-16may 2010 and hosted by the West Indies. The winners were England who defeated Australia by 7 wickets in the final at Kensington Oval, Barbados. This has been the first ever ICC tournament won by England. The fourth tournament, the 2012 ICC world twenty20, was held from 18 September to 7 October 2012 and was hosted by Sri Lanka. The winners were West Indies who defeated Sri Lanka by 36 runs.

The 5th ICC T20 world cup will be hosted by Bangladesh from 16 March to 6 April 2014. Recently India won the ICC champions trophy making the country proud and the fans happy. India is also going to host the 2023 world cup. So the BCCI and the cricket lovers are really happy with ICC decision. India fans are really looking forward to see India holding the ICC T20 world cup again. With the current form and performance India is likely to win it in Bangladesh.

The ICC board also told that a further report and inspection is to be held in august after which a final decision will be taken regarding the venues of the different events.
