Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma to marry soon

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed off-late about the fact that the board mentioned the team management that Anushka Sharma was allowed to accompany her boyfriend, Virat Kohli because they will get married very soon. In this particular tour, for the very first time, girlfriends of cricketers were allowed to accompany them.

It is also said that the team management was quite sort of amazed when BCCI approved the request made by Virat Kohli to allow Anushka Sharma in the tour. Wives of cricketers did accompany them in the past but accompanies by girlfriends is quite a new thing that happened in this tour of Indian team to England. BCCI justified its approval by claiming that a captain’s girlfriend was once allowed to travel with the team years back.

BCCI thought it justified as this kind of a thing is quite renowned in areas of football. But they never thought of the fact that cricket is a prolonged game unlike football and during that period, off-field activities do come in cricketers’ mind causing them to lose concentration.

The board believed that Kohli would have been able to handle the situation. But India’s disastrous performance in the test series has brought this matter into some sorts of a serious consideration.

Also a BCCI official quoted in a report, “When the management enquired on how to handle the media if they questioned her presence with the vice-captain, they were told that Kohli can handle the media attention and wouldn’t let the cat out of the bag.”

He also added to it by saying, “Unlike football, Test cricket is played for eight hours. And when the mind is on picking and dropping friends, the result will be visible on the field itself. Off-field activities definitely play on the mind.”

This matter was also criticized by many of the former cricketers and some even believed that India’s huge defeat was partially because of it. India performed really poor in the test series. Also, Virat Kohli was completely out of touch. It is to be seen whether India manage to bounce back in the ODI series which starts from 25th August.
