Two teams were added to this year’s IPL, so we are preparing for a tough and exciting competition come March 26th. The Mega Auction also saw all teams take home phenomenal players and this has made it quite difficult to predict who will win the IPL 2022 title.
Still, some teams show a higher probability of snatching the title and in this article, we’ll be discussing them and telling you how we came up with our predictions.
Mumbai Indians
The Mumbai Indians come first on our list. This team has offered such brilliant performances over the years that we truly believe they might win this year’s IPL title. Mumbai Indians have won four titles so far, one in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
This is something that can’t be ignored. This team is also captained by one of the best players in the history of IPL. This is the one and only Rohit Sharma who is the leading run-scorer of the team. We can’t also ignore the fact that Mumbai Indians have Lasith Malinga as their wicket-taker. With 150 wickets to his name, Lasith is the leading wicket-taker in the IPL and we are sure he’ll play brilliantly in this year’s season.
Another reason why Mumbai Indians have the top position on our list is because of their reputation. This team has an enviable work ethic and perhaps this is why they’ve won five titles. And it’s not just the players, their management also plays a huge role in leading them to victory. For instance, we always see their management spending a ton of revenue in ensuring they’ve got the best players in the IPL.
Such commitment only proves that this team can be going for their sixth title this year.
Chennai Super Kings
From our research, we’ve gathered that Chennai Super Kings also have a high chance of winning this year’s IPL. There are several reasons why we think this is possible. First, this team won last year’s IPL title and the other three titles in 2010, 2011, and 2018.
This gives the Super Kings a great advantage over other teams. Secondly, CSK has one of the best players in the entire league. For instance, with MS Dhoni being one of their batsmen and Deepak Chahar being one of their bowlers, we have no choice but to think they’ll win this year’s title.
The Super Kings are also known for their phenomenal performance as a team. They play together and their line-up for every match aims at tapping the strengths of each player. With such harmonious coordination, it would come as no shock if they end up winning.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Everyone may know the Riders because they’re owned by the talented Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla. But don’t let these celebrity affiliations trick you into thinking that this team is soft. The KKR have played strongly over the years which has led them to win two titles, one in 2012 and another in 2014. The Riders also came second in last year’s IPL, so we believe that they’ll bring out all their strength in this year’s season.
The Riders are captained by Shreyar Iyer the gifted 27-year-old who has played successfully in both domestic and international cricket matches. The team also has a long list of talented players such as Ramesh Kumar, Aman Khan, and Umesh Yadav.
With such a brilliant line-up, Kolkata Knight Riders is a team that may become this year’s champions.
What about the new teams?
The BCCI added two more teams to this year’s IPL season. These teams include the Lucknow Super Giants and the Gujarat Titans. The Lucknow Super Giants have Kl Rahul as their captain and players such as Ravi Bishnois, so we expect them to perform well. Of course, this is a new team so we don’t see them snatching this year’s IPL title. However, we’re keeping an eye on them and we’re sure they’ll give a wonderful performance.
As for the Gujarat Titans, we also see them performing brilliantly in this year’s IPL season. Hardik Pandya is the team’s captain and some of the players include Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan. So we are confident that they’ll play impressively.
So, who will win IPL 2022?
We’ve given you our predictions and now all you need to do is wait for the tournament to begin. There’s no doubt that Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings have a high chance of winning. However, sports are fluid and even the most underachieving team can end up performing brilliantly and shocking the entire world.
